Mediterranean Chaffle Burger

Mediterranean Chaffle Burger

Here’s a Chaffle Burger Mediterranean Diet–style 🍔🧀🌿 — low-carb, protein-rich, and full of Mediterranean flavor! Instead of heavy bread, we’ll use light, cheesy “chaffle” buns made with wholesome ingredients like eggs, olive oil, and Mediterranean cheese.

🍔 Mediterranean Chaffle Burger

  • 1 tbsp almond flour (optional, for structure)
  • 1 tsp extra virgin olive oil
  • Pinch of oregano or basil

For the Burger Patties:

  • ½ lb (225 g) lean ground chicken, turkey, or beef
  • 1 tbsp finely chopped onion
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp chopped parsley
  • ½ tsp smoked paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tsp olive oil for cooking

Toppings (Mediterranean-style):

  • 2 tbsp hummus or tzatziki sauce
  • Sliced tomato
  • Sliced cucumber or arugula
  • Crumbled feta or a slice of fresh mozzarella
  • Optional: a few Kalamata olive slices

Instructions

  1. Make the Chaffles:
    • Preheat a mini waffle maker or use a nonstick skillet.
    • Whisk eggs, cheese, almond flour, olive oil, and herbs together.
    • Pour half the mixture into the waffle maker and cook for 3–4 minutes, until golden and firm.
    • Repeat for the second chaffle.
    • Set aside to cool slightly (they’ll crisp as they cool).
  2. Prepare the Burger Patties:
    • In a bowl, mix ground meat with onion, garlic, parsley, paprika, salt, and pepper.
    • Form into 2 patties.
    • Heat olive oil in a skillet and cook patties for 4–5 minutes per side, until golden and cooked through.
  3. Assemble the Chaffle Burger:
    • Spread hummus or tzatziki on one chaffle.
    • Add the patty, tomato, cucumber, and cheese.
    • Top with the second chaffle and gently press together.
  4. Serve:
    • Enjoy warm with a side salad of mixed greens, drizzled with olive oil and lemon juice.

🌿 Mediterranean Diet Tips

  • Use olive oil instead of butter for all cooking.
  • Choose feta or mozzarella as your Mediterranean cheese.
  • Add avocado, arugula, or grilled veggies for more healthy fats and fiber.
  • For pescatarian option — use a grilled salmon patty instead of meat!
