Ingredients
Meat Base
- 1 lb (450 g) ground beef
- ½ lb (225 g) Italian sausage (pork or chicken, casings removed)
- 1 cup sliced pepperoni
- 1 tbsp olive oil (if needed)
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- ½ tsp onion powder
- Salt & black pepper to taste
Sauce Layer
- 1 cup low-carb marinara sauce
Cheese Layer
- 2½ cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- ½ cup shredded provolone or cheddar
- ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
Optional Add-Ins
- Sautéed mushrooms
- Green bell peppers
- Olives
- Red pepper flakes
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a deep 9-inch pie dish or springform pan.
- In a large skillet, brown ground beef and sausage over medium heat. Drain excess fat.
- Season with Italian seasoning, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
- Stir in half of the pepperoni and any optional veggies.
- Press the meat mixture evenly into the prepared dish, forming a thick base and slightly up the sides.
- Spread marinara evenly over the meat layer.
- Sprinkle mozzarella, provolone (or cheddar), and Parmesan on top.
- Add remaining pepperoni on top of the cheese.
- Bake uncovered 30–35 minutes until bubbly and golden.
- Rest 10 minutes before slicing for clean pieces.
