WW Hamburger Steak Bake

Overview

This healthy baked version of hamburger steak combines lean ground beef, onions, and a savory gravy topping for a filling, low-point dinner that satisfies comfort food cravings.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb (450 g) lean ground beef (93% lean or leaner)
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • ½ cup chopped mushrooms (optional)
  • 1 large egg
  • ¼ cup breadcrumbs (or quick oats for lighter option)
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) reduced-fat cream of mushroom soup (or 98% fat-free)
  • ¼ cup water or low-sodium beef broth
  • Cooking spray

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly coat a baking dish with cooking spray.
  2. Mix the beef base
    • In a bowl, combine ground beef, chopped onion, egg, breadcrumbs, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
    • Mix gently until just combined.
  3. Form and place patties
    • Shape into 4 oval patties and arrange them in the baking dish.
  4. Add gravy
    • In a small bowl, mix the cream of mushroom soup with water or broth until smooth.
    • Pour evenly over the patties.
  5. Bake
    • Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes.
    • Remove foil and bake another 10–15 minutes until cooked through and sauce is bubbly.

Serving Ideas

Serve with:

  • Mashed cauliflower or mashed potatoes
  • Steamed green beans or roasted vegetables
